For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. Romans 4: 3-4
Offending God & racking up more sin debt by working for your salvation definitely does not fit WT theology.

Scriptures That Don’t Fit WT Theology
by Sea Breeze inhere’s a couple good ones: a. jesus said, “come to me and i will give you rest”.. why did jesus command us to go to him and not jehovah?.
why does the bible say that the name of jesus is above every name?

Blotty,
In addition to Westcott and Hort dabbling in spiritism while they were doing their "bible corrections", Sinaiticus and Vaticanus and the few manucripts based on them are rejected by many scholars for many good reasons.
There have always been two streams of manuscripts. One group (about 90%) enjoy a 99% agreement between each other. The other group is characterized as descending from Alexandrian origin, which was a hotbed of heresy from early on. They only represent about 10% of extant manuscripts. It is estimated that Sinaiticus and Vaticanus disagree with each other at least 7000 times. These disagreements are not minor but involve major omissions and doctrinal conflicts of scripture. Just in the gospels alone there are the following number of disagreements between these two:
Matthew 656
Mark 567
Luke 791
John 1022
Total Gospel Disagreements Between Vaticanus and Sinaiticus 3036 +
Hundreds of overwrites, scratch-outs and multiple writers over many centuries, makes these two manuscripts (and those based on them) unreliabel as well. So, it is not surprising that critical text adherents disagree with each other.
Majority Text Bibles Available Today Include:
1. King James Version - KJV
2. King James Version ER (Easy Reader) - KJV - ER
3. New King James Version - NKJV
4. Modern English Version - MEV
5. Green's Literal Translation - GLT
6. Third Millennium Bible - TMB
7. New Cambridge Paragraph Bible - 2005 edition of the KJV (paragraph format with modernized spelling)
8. 21st Century King James Bible
I have little hesitancy using critical text modern versions for reference purposes. I know where most of the problem deletions and interpolations are. But, when it comes to distilling sound doctrine, I recommend a textus receptus (TR) based bible.

Blotty, millions of Christians reject the modern textual critism pioneered by the spiritists & unsaved bible critics - Wescott & Hort.
A. T. Robertson descended from their textual apparatus.

God's first Creation
by peacefulpete inthe first of god's works was..........behemoth.
job 40:19 he is the reshit (firstling) of the ways of el; he, his maker, can approach it with his cherev (sword).. ok, where to start.
first of all, yes the word in context does imply 'first'.

And if you don't like atheist fantasies, there is always the traditional Christian view by Matthew Henry:
He that made him can make his sword to approach to him (v. 19), that is, the same hand that made him, notwithstanding his great bulk and strength, can unmake him again at pleasure and kill an elephant [or similar great beast] as easily as a worm or a fly, without any difficulty, and without the imputation either of waste or wrong. God that gave to all the creatures their being may take away the being he gave; for may he not do what he will with his own?
And he can do it; he that has power to create with a word no doubt has power to destroy with a word, and can as easily speak the creature into nothing as at first he spoke it out of nothing. The behemoth perhaps is here intended (as well as the leviathan afterwards) to represent those proud tyrants and oppressors whom God had just now challenged Job to abase and bring down. They think themselves as well fortified against the judgments of God as the elephant with his bones of brass and iron...
He that framed the engine, and put the parts of it together, knows how to take it in pieces. Woe to him therefore that strives with his Maker, for he that made him has therefore power to make him miserable, and will not make him happy unless he will be ruled by him. -

JWs say people are resurrected during the 1000 years but the Bible says people are resurrected only before or after the 1000 years.
Right on Jeffro.
JWs say the nations are destroyed at Armageddon, but the Bible says Satan is locked away so he can’t mislead the nations during the 1000 years.
Rigjt on again. The nations are tattered but still intact after the GT. This is when the sheep & goats judgment happens... also known as "the judgment of the nations".
Gentiles Will Keep the Feast of Tabernacles
“And it shall come to pass that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles” (Zech. 14:16).
This has never happened, but it will during the Millennium Reign. -

Resurrection of damnation - John 5: 29
I thought the WT taught that all those resurrected got a clean slate when they died. -

Did the Fugazi 1975 Prophecy Really Happen?
by Sea Breeze ini was 12 years old in 1975. how old were you then?
all jw's were counting the years till armageddon.
towing the line was the only thing that would get you through it.

As I recall, it was pretty much hysteria level stuff. If you were a kid at that time, you might as well have lived in a cellar during WW II.
I was the youngest of 3 boys. After it was over, everyone, including my brothers just acted like nothing happened. I don't recall the subject ever being brought up again in our home. It was like everyone was under some sort of spell. In 1976 or 1977 at age 19, they made my oldest brother and elder (enforcer), which he remains as such to this day.A lot of the youth checked out during this time. Anyone remember the disco craze that started shortly after this in the late 1970's? A lot of JW teens ended up dancing away their lost faith.
In the 1 November 1995 Watchtower, Jehovah's Witnesses abandoned their decades-long belief that Christ's words "This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled" (Matthew 24:34) was a reference to the people living in 1914 (p. 17).
Withing a week or two, the Watchtower dropped all reference to 1914 from their Awake! magazine's "Why Awake! Is Published" masthead:
"Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away" (22 October 1995).
This was on every Awake magazine for decades. But the next week, the new version read:
"Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked lawless system of things" (8 November p. 4).
Here they tacitly blame the Creator for the failed prophecy ! Nice. They hate God for making them look stupid.
This is when I left. Never stepped foot in a KH since.
@Rivergang:
The only thing I don’t recall is the countdown to “Armageddon”I think every congregation was a little different. I do remember prominent well liked elders stepping down after this - apparently "for no reason". I now know the reason.
When we walked on the moon in 1969, at age 6, (that's how I remember the date) I remember counting on my little fingers how long I had left to live.
I calcualted 6 more years. I decided that I would straighten up and not get into any trouble in about 5 more years at age 11. That way I could conserve my energy for the final push to be good enough to survive Aramgeddon. -

A lot of the newbies don't know about this history. It really wasn't all that long ago. Here's some former district overseers and others high up who tell it like it is... lest we forget.
